How many people do you photograph in a day?

I photograph one or two headshot clients per day to ensure each session receives my full attention. This approach allows clients to feel relaxed and unhurried, resulting in natural, professional headshots.

Do you photograph in natural light or in a studio?

I shoot headshots in my air-conditioned, natural light studio in Studio City, Los Angeles. Occasionally, I use studio lighting to enhance skin tones, balance contrast, or create a specific mood, ensuring every headshot looks polished and professional.

Do you offer coaching or direction during the photoshoot?

Yes! Many clients feel nervous in front of the camera, so I provide personalized coaching and direction throughout the session. After we define your vision, I guide your performance to create headshots that clearly communicate your personality and professional goals.

ABOUT MARC CARTWRIGHT

Marc Cartwright is a Los Angeles–based headshot photographer specializing in actor headshots and professional business portraits for clients throughout the greater Los Angeles area. With over 18 years of experience in front of and behind the camera, Marc’s approach is grounded in authenticity, collaboration, and a deep understanding of what makes a compelling, marketable image.

He grew up on Long Island’s East End, where his grandparents’ love of classic Hollywood films sparked his lifelong passion for film and visual storytelling.

At 18, Marc moved to New York City to study Mass Media and Human Behavior at NYU. While fulfilling an art requirement, he discovered photography — a medium that perfectly combined his interest in people with his fascination for storytelling through imagery.

After graduating, Marc relocated to Los Angeles to pursue acting and went on to build a successful commercial and print career, working with major brands including Coca-Cola and Tommy Hilfiger. His firsthand experience on set gave him unique insight into what casting directors, agents, and producers respond to in a professional headshot. Over time, he found his true creative calling behind the camera, where he could guide and shape the visual narrative of others.

Today, Marc works with a wide range of actors, creatives, and business professionals, creating headshots that feel natural, confident, and true to each individual. Marc’s photography and industry expertise have been featured in publications both in the U.S. and internationally. He is recognized by Backstage Magazine as a headshot photography expert and contributes regularly to their articles on effective actor headshots and industry trends.
